Romans 10:8 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

The word is nigh thee— The original 'Ρημα, often signifies word, but sometimes affair, business; and so does דבר deber in the Hebrew,—the word used by Moses, Deuteronomy 30:14. In this place the meaning seems to be, the affair is nigh thee, (that is, is rendered easy and feasible,) even in thy mouth, and in thy heart; that is, the affair of faith, which we preach. See Matthew 18:16. Luke 1:37; Luke 2:15. 2 Corinthians 12:4; 2 Corinthians 13:1.
