And so— That is, by that means: so the word ουτως signifies, John 8:59. The reference in this and the next verse to the Old Testament, is commonly supposed to point at Isaiah 59:20. But whether the Apostle directs to any particular prophesy, or to the current sense of all the prophets, is uncertain; though the latter opinion seems most probable. The restoration of the Jewish commonwealth, in a higher degree than seems to be yet accomplished, is, as we have before observed, frequently spoken of in the prophetic writings. Romans 11:26-27

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
