Zechariah 11:15 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd— The prophet follows the order of time, that he may foretel the madness and blindness of the shepherds, or of the priests and rulers of the Jewish nation, till the last destruction of Jerusalem; who not only disregarded religion, and the safety of the sheep, but even devoured such of them as were worth devouring; shepherds of nothing; Zechariah 11:17 for so idol-shepherds should be translated;—retaining nothing of the shepherd but the name. The arm of the Jews was dried up from that time when they were no longer able to bear arms, or to defend themselves; as their right eye is darkened to the true knowledge of the Scriptures, which they read as with a veil before them.

Zechariah 11:15

15 And the LORD said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.
