Ver. 24. And all the sons likewise of king David.] This was much, since some of them were his elder brethren, and came of more noble mothers; but David had so clearly convinced them of God's will that Solomon should succeed him, and God in addition so wrought their hearts, that after Adonijah's death they all submitted themselves unto Solomon the king. Heb., Gave the hand under Solomon the king; haply they laid their hand under his thigh - that ancient ceremony, Genesis 24:2 ; Gen 47:29 - and sware to be faithful to him.
