That was a strange dream which Jerome a had, when he was not only reproved but beaten black and blue for reading Cicero rather than the Holy Scriptures; this voice being uttered, as he perfectly remembered, Ciceronianus es, non Christianus, - Thou art a better Ciceronian than Christian.
