Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Ver. 29. We ought to obey God rather than men] This is a principle granted and grafted in us by nature. I love and embrace you, O Athenians (said Socrates, in his Apology), but yet I will obey God rather than you.
