The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

Ver. 32. The place of the Scripture] The parcel, saith the Syriac, פמוקא; the partition or section, say the Hebrews, הפטרה. Among us, Stephen Langton, Archbishop of Canterbury, first divided the Bible into Chapter s in such sort as we now account them; Robert Stephens into verses, imperitissime plerunque textum dissecans, saith Scultetus, not doing so well as he might.
