O king, live for ever.] Daniel doth not curse the king (as some impatient spirits would have done, and as some think the damned in hell do God), but wisheth him a long and happy life, voto amabili. He useth the ordinary form, but with a better mind. His wish of the king's welfare was non in labris nature sed in fibris, it was from the heart, it was a holy prayer.
