Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;

Ver. 9. Only take heed.] Cavebis autem, si pavebis.

Lest thou forget.] Eaten bread is soon forgotten.

Teach them thy sons.] A special help against forgetfulness; yea, this is the best art of memory. Of all things God cannot abide to be forgotten.
