And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I [am] the LORD.

Ver. 2. And that thou mayest tell.] The memory of God's magnalia, his great works, must be transmitted to posterity -

Ut nati natorum et qui nascentur ab illis,

that later ages may hear and fear this great God. See 1 Samuel 4:8 .
