For upon the first [day] of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first [day] of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

Ver. 9. According to the good hand of his God upon him] See Trapp on " Ezr 7:6 " In all thy ways acknowledge God, and he shall direct thy paths, Proverbs 3:6. Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also upon him, and he shall bring it to pass, Psalms 37:5. Holy Ezra had experimented all this (as also had Eliezer, Gen 24:56), and therefore ascribeth his good success to God's good providence.
