Behold, I stand [here] by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:

And the daughters, &c.] So did Rachel, and those in Deborah's song, that rehearsed the acts of the Lord at the places of drawing water; Jdg 5:11 and Jethro's daughters, though he were prince of Median. Oh, the simplicity and plainness of those times! They that plead Rebekah's ornaments for their garish attire, would be loath to take her office - to be at the pains that she was.
