It was the Persians' barbarous manner, in the midst of their cups, to advise of their weightiest affairs, as Pererius here noteth: Ardua negotia, praesertim in quibus iuramentum intervenit, ieiuno stomacho suscipi peragique debent, saith Piscator. Weighty businesses are best despatched fasting.
