The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

But the word of our God shall stand for ever,] q.d., Though the elect also as well as others are grass, frail and fading creatures, yet the grace of God wrought in their hearts by the gospel is stable and lasting.
