And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which [were] of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate.

Ver. 16. Stood by the entering of the gate.] To aid the thieves, if there should be any opposition made against them. So that here met those two ways of theft mentioned by Nazianzen, επιβουλη, or crafty contrivance, and επιβολη, rapine and violence.
