And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

Ver. 1. And as he was wont, he taught] Praedicationis officium suscipit quisquis ad sacerdotium accedit. (Greg. in Pastoral.) It was death for the high priest to enter the holy place, or to come abroad, without his bells and pomegranates. St Mark is much in setting forth Christ's forwardness to teach.
