But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

Ver. 34. He expounded] He read them the riddles, as it were, or untied the knots, επελυε. So, Judges 7:15, we read of a dream, and the interpretation, or breaking of it. A metaphor from the breaking of a nut to get the kernel.
