When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

Ver. 1. When the morning was come] They had broken their sleep the night before, and yet were up and at it early the next morning, so soon as the day peeped (ως εγενετο ημερα), Luke 22:66.
