Psalms 144:1 «[A Psalm] of David. » Blessed [be] the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, [and] my fingers to fight:

A Psalm of David] The Greek addeth, against Goliath; and the Chaldee, for the hurtful sword, Psalms 144:10, hath Goliath's sword.

Ver. 1. Blessed be the Lord my strength] See Psalms 18:1, and observe how this psalm suiteth with that.

Which teacheth my hands] Used to the hook and harp, and not to the sword and spear; but God hath apted and abled them to feats of arms, and warlike exploits. It is God that giveth skill and success, saith Solomon, Proverbs 8:1,36, wisdom and ability, saith Daniel, Dan 2:19-23 And as in the spiritual warfare, so here, our weapons are mighty through God, 2 Corinthians 10:4, who promiseth that no weapon formed against his people shall prosper, Isaiah 54:17 .
