The king's ships went to Tarshish] If this is not a misunderstanding of the phrase 'ships of Tarshish' (1 Kings 10:22), which describes a particular kind of vessel, it must be assumed that Solomon's ships sailed, from a Phœnician port, Tarshish (whether Tartessus or Tarsus) being on the Mediterranean.
