And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD. Called - Jedidiah - ידידיה, literally, the beloved of the Lord. This is the first instance I remember of a minister of God being employed to give a name to the child of one of his servants. But it is strange that the name given by the father was that alone which prevailed.
