And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing. Hath taken away thy blessing - This blessing, which was a different thing from the birthright, seems to consist of two parts:
1. The dominion, generally and finally, over the other part of the family; and,
2. Being the progenitor of the Messiah.
But the former is more explicitly declared than the latter. See note on Genesis 25:31.
