I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. I the Lord search the heart - The Lord is called by his apostles, Acts 1:24, Καρδιογνωστης, the Knower of the heart. To him alone can this epithet be applied; and it is from him alone that we can derive that instruction by which we can in any measure know ourselves.
