Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? Then came the officers - They had followed him for several days, seeking for a proper opportunity to seize on him, when they might fix some charge of sedition, etc., upon him; but the more they listened, the more they were convinced of his innocence, purity, and consummate wisdom.
