And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. Darkness over all the earth - See the note on Matthew 27:45. The darkness began at the sixth hour, about our twelve o'clock at noon, and lasted till the ninth hour, which answered to our three o'clock in the afternoon.
