But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.

Jonathan ... put forth the end of the rod ... and dipped it in an honey-comb, х bªya`ªrat (H3295) hadªbaash (H1706)] - not, properly, the "honey-comb," i:e., the cells in which the honey is contained, but the dropping of the honey comb; i:e., liquid honey (cf. Psalms 19:2) (Gesenius).
