But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, which was of Gallim.

Michal. By the unchallengeable will of her father, she who was David's wife was given to another; but she returned, and sustained the character of his wife when he ascended the throne.

Phaiti the son of Laish, which was of Gallim, х ben (H1121) Layish (H3919)]. Some render this, 'native of Laish,' which was close to, and dependent upon, Gallim. The position of this town is unknown, though from the places with which Isaiah has associated it (1 Samuel 25:30), it was probably in the territory of Benjamin. The name "Gallim" was probably derived from the vicinity of bubbling springs.
