Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

'Aleph (') A B Delta G f g, Vulgate, read 'FOR ye are all,' etc. Ye have no reason for fear, or surprise, by the coming of the day of the Lord: 'For ye are all sons х huioi (G5207)] of light and sons of day:' a Hebrew idiom: as sons resemble their fathers, so you are light (intellectually and morally illuminated in spiritual things) (Luke 16:8; John 12:36).

Are not of - i:e., belong ant to night nor darkness. The change from '"ye" to "we" implies, Ye are sons of light, because ye are Christians; and we, Christians, are not of night nor darkness.
