They had thus a double expression of the mind of the council: As in writing it would be more explicit, less liable to be misunderstood or perverted, and more easy of transmission to different places; so when the contents of the Letter were communicated and enlarged on verbally by the deputies from Jerusalem, the impression would naturally be much deepened.
