The phraseology used here is remarkable, and irresistibly recalls the fate of the first murderer, who was doomed to be a fugitive and a vagabond upon the face of the earth. A similar sentence was passed on the Jewish people for "killing the prince of life (Acts 3:15), when Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans; and the history of the last eighteen centuries shows that this sentence has been literally executed.
