And for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon,

And for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon, х yªraachiym (H3391), moons; Septuagint, kai kath' hooran genneematoon heeliou tropoon, kai apo sunodoon meenoon, for the fruits in season produced by the sun, and by the conjunction of moons] - i:e., the annual and monthly vegetation.

'From the time of the new moon to its becoming full, all plants and all kinds of young grain are said to gain more strength than at any other period. Some of the people think that the sap of trees rises according to the increase or waning of the moon' (Roberts, 'Oriental Illustrations,' p. 131).
