In those transactions Jethro, as a calm, intelligent, reflecting observer at a distance, had seen a controversy carried on by Yahweh less with the sovereign than the idols of Egypt, and that the extraordinary series of miracles had produced the effect of exposing the insignificance or nothingness of all her gods.
