Pricking, х mam'iyr (H3992), from maa'ar (H3992), to grieve] - literally, 'causing bitterness.' The same Hebrew is translated 'fretting' (Leviticus 13:51-52). The wicked are often called "thorns" (2 Samuel 23:6).
