Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts is the land darkened - namely, with smoke (Isaiah 9:18). The Septuagint and Chaldaic render it, is burnt up; so Maurer х ne`ªtam (H6272)], from an Arabic root meaning suffocating heat.

No man shall spare his brother - intestine discord snapping asunder the dearest ties of nature.
