Many nations ... shall say ... Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this great city - fulfilling to the letter Deuteronomy 29:24-25, to which Jeremiah here alludes. The Gentile nations, more intelligent than you, shah understand that which ye do not-namely, that this city is a spectacle of God's vengeance (Calvin).
