Job 11:3 - Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible

Bible Comments

Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?

Should thy lies make men hold their peace? - "lies" - rather, vain boasting х badiym (H907)] (Isaiah 16:6; Jeremiah 48:30). The "men" is emphatic; men of sense х mªtiym (H4962)], in antithesis to 'vain boasting.'

When thou mockest - upbraidest God by complaints that, though knowing thee to be innocent, He yet punishes thee as guilty.

Job 11:3

3 Should thy liesa make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?
