And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.

And escaped unto Seirath, х ha-Sª`iyraataah (H8167), with the prefix of the definite article, and the particle of motion, to, at the end]. The place was in the Ephraim mountain; and from its name Seir, or Seirath, which signifies shaggy wood, it seems to have lain among the line of hills which extended to Judah (Joshua 15:10).
