Pe is put before Ain, as in Elegy 2:16,17; 4:16,17. Verse 46. All our enemies have opened their mouths against us - (Lamentations 2:16). Verse 47. Fear and a snare is come upon us - like animals fleeing in fear, we fall into the snare laid for us. Verse 48. Mine eye runneth down with rivers - (Jeremiah 9:1, "O that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people"). 46 All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

47 Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.

48 Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
