Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.

Separated from Israel all the mixed multitude, х `eereb (H6154)] - the motley mass of foreigners with whom the Jews had contracted alliances. The word occurs first in reference to the Egyptians who accompanied them at the departure from Egypt (Exodus 12:38, and Leviticus 22:10-11).
