This verse depends on Proverbs 2:11, "Discretion ... shall keep thee ... that thou mayest, walk," etc. As "discretion and understanding" "deliver from the way of the evil man" (Proverbs 2:12), and also "from the strange woman" (Proverbs 2:16), so they preserve thee in thy duty, "that thou mayest walk in the way of good men." As Proverbs 2:12. etc., and Proverbs 2:16, etc., express the negative good of "discretion," so this 20th verse the positive good.
