Proud (and) haughty scorner (is) his name who dealeth in proud wrath - literally, in the wrath of pride:' who gives loose rein to passion, combined with pride, on the slightest or on no provocation. So Haman was filled with proud wrath because Mordecai did not bow to him (Esther 3:5). The penalty of proud wrath is though such persons seem to themselves men of high and right spirit, yet their true name shall at last be known as "proud scorners" (cf. Habakkuk 2:5).
