Psalms 141:8 - Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible

Bible Comments

But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

But mine eyes are unto thee, O God - in the midst of our scattered and almost extinct state (Psalms 141:7: cf. Psalms 25:15; 2 Chronicles 20:12).

Leave not my soul destitute - Hebrew ( tª`ar (H6168)), make not my soul bare; or, by an image from pouring out blood (in which is the life or soul), as the same Hebrew is used in Isaiah 53:12; Isaiah 32:15, "Do not pour out my soul" to destruction; cf. the same image 2 Samuel 14:14. The Hebrew is used for emptying a vessel in Genesis 24:20; 2 Chronicles 24:11. My soul is that of the people, whose life was bound up with that of their Anointed King, and that of David's seed (Lamentations 4:20).
