With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful. David brings forward his case, not for self-glorification, but for the edification of the Church, to illustrate the universal principle of God's dealings self-glorification, but for the edification of the Church, to illustrate the universal principle of God's dealings х chaaciyd (H2623)]: benign.

With an upright man - literally, 'with an upright hero х gªbar (H1399)] thou wilt show thyself upright.' To the godly alone belongs true hero-power.
