Psalms 34:21 - Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible

Bible Comments

Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

Evil shall slay the wicked. Since the Hebrew х raa`aah (H7451)] is the same as in Psalms 34:19, to which this verse refers, translate, as there, 'affliction shall slay the wicked,' whereas 'the Lord delivereth the righteous out of all their afflictions.'

They ... desolate - or 'shall be (made to appear by the treatment which they shall receive) guilty:' cf. margin; also margin and text, Psalms 5:10; Hosea 13:1.

Conclusion and summary:

Psalms 34:21

21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.b
