Bible Comments

Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols - as the Jews certainly did, even after their captivity, though bent on them before,

Dost thou commit sacrilege? х hierosuleis (G2416)] - not, as some excellent interpreters, 'dost thou rob idol temples?' (which the word would naturally mean in Pagan usage,) but 'dost thou profane sacred things?' The other the Jews did not, but this they too frequently committed (see Nehemiah 13:10-12; Malachi 1:13-14; Malachi 3:8-9; Matthew 21:12-13).
