supposing. Greek. nomizo. See note on Acts 14:19.

been fled. escaped. Compare Acts 12:19; Acts 27:42. Roman soldiers were responsible with their lives for prisoners in their charge.

Acts 16:27

27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
