diverse kind. Everything created "after his kind". See note on Genesis 1:11. a deep, moral, and spiritual lesson is contained in this prohibition.

mingled. Another lesson here as to mingling the clean and unclean, human and Divine, flesh and spirit, &c. This law relates only to "seeds" which are used for food and actually eaten. Compare Luke 13:6.

Leviticus 19:19

19 Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.
