In the second chariot; in the king's second chariot, that he might be known and owned to be the next person to the king in power and dignity. Compare 2 Chronicles 35:24 Esther 6:8, Esther 10:3 Daniel 5:29. Bow the knee: they commanded all that passed by him, or came to him, to show their reverent respect to him in this manner: compare Esther 3:2. Others, tender father, to signify that he was to be owned as the father of the country, because by his prudence and care he had provided for them all, and saved them from utter ruin.

43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.
