Jeremiah 50:13 - Matthew Poole's English Annotations on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

It shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate; the same thing was threatened against Babylon, Isaiah 13:20, It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. Shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues: it seemeth to be a proverbial speech made use of to express the miserable state of a place; we had it before, Jeremiah 49:17, applied to Edom. It is according to the threatening, Deuteronomy 28:37. See Jeremiah 25:9,11 Jeremiah 29:18 42:18 Ezekiel 5:15.

Jeremiah 50:13

13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.
