Now ye are clean, &c.— "The doctrine that I have preached to you, by the power of divine grace, has inspired you with holy desires; has invigorated you with good resolutions; and, in a measure, has cleansed you from evil affections; so that, like the pruned branches of the vine, you are fitted to bring forth fruit."
